In this stage we will
In the previous stage we managed to create a USB disk for the PS2 to copy Free McBoot to the PS2 and Open PS2 loader
Now we need to get a blank DVD-R and copy an ISO file across. This step is necessary because as of writing this article, it was the only practical way to get the PS2 to boot up the loader to allow files from the USB to be copied to the Sony Memory Card. Once we copy these files across to the Memory Card, then we can boot the PS2 via the Memory Card and no longer need the DVD. This is why it is a cumbersome process but once we have the ability to run a file manager on the PS2 we can copy files and configure further settings which allows the PS2 to run games off the HDD. Copy the ISO file across to your computer and run ImgBurn and load the ISO file to be burnt. Check the writing speed is set to x2
Select the ISO file
Now you will need to get a free Sony PS Memory Card for the PS2. This will be wiped so make sure it is ok to lose all data on this. Go ahead and insert it into a slimline PS2
Insert the USB stick created earlier into the slimline PS2 as well
Insert the DVD you just created into the slimline PS2 and then you can power up the slimline PS2
This completes stage 5
