Technical Information
Today we are going to look at a Sony Playstation 2 Phat console. We will attempt to clean the console and then retrofit a new hard drive and install some software so we can store ISO images on the hard drive and run them from the console hard drive.
There is another section on how to backup your original PS2 game DVDs and this process creates a DVD ISO that is used in this project.

This PS2 was purchased off Ebay and was supplied just as a base console with no controllers or power cables. The console was reported as in "working order".
The workflow will be
- Visual inspection for safety
- Power up the unit and check video and audio
- Check IO such as controllers and also check the DVD drive
- Dismantle and clean
- Re-assemble and test as per above
- Install Hard Drive and test as per above
- Install software and game ISO and test
