Stage 6 - Install Free MC Boot

In this stage we will

• Check the PS2 boots up to the custom DVD bootloader
• Run the FMCB Installer on the DVD to install FMCB to the Sony Memory Card
• Move the Memory Card to the PS2 Phat and boot up the PS2 and check the FMCB works

In the previous stage we managed to create a DVD boot disk and booted the PS2 which gives us access to a file manager to copy files to the Sony Memory Card

DVD Boots to this manager. Select FileBrowser

Select FileBrowser. Then go to mass:/ which is the USB you inserted before. If the USB is not inserted, please insert it and reboot the PS2 and come back to this step.

Select mass:/ which is the USB.

Select the FMCBInstaller.elf file

This will now run the FMCB installer which is needed to copy the FMCB files correctly to the Sony Memory Card.

Select Install

Select Yes

Select Normal

The program will copy the necessary FMCB files to the Memory Card

Completed

Select Exit

Select Yes

This completes the need for the PS2 Slimline. You can put this console aside. It wont be needed again.

Remove the Memory Card and USB from the PS2 Slim and insert them into the PS2 Phat. No DVD is needed. Boot up the PS2 Phat and check Free MC Boot works.

The next step is to copy the Open PS2 loader to the Memory Card.
